About Moreton Harmony A-Cappella

  1. Singing with Moreton Harmony A-Cappella

    • If you have a love of singing and would love to learn to hold your own part - Moreton Harmony singing group is for you.
    • It is a big help if you can read music, but it is not essential.  We provide you with learning media and help to learn the songs.
    • You don’t need previous singing experience but if you have that is an added benefit. Vocal tuition forms part of each chorus rehearsal.
    • We are a happy and friendly roup who love singing together.
  2. My commitment
    • Like joining a sporting team, we love people coming along regularly.  Weekly rehearsals are Tuesday nights 7:00pm until 9:00pm during Queensland school terms.
    • On occasions there may be performances arranged on another evening or a weekend.
  3. A Cappella
    • A Cappella means singing without instruments (so no piano accompaniment). We sing two-three-four part, unaccompanied music such as close harmony popular show tunes, current ballads, and other mainstream music.
  4. Benefits of being part of Moreton Harmony
    • Singing, friendships and learning are the main reasons why our members join and stay. Our singing hobby allows us to get involved and will excite and challenge your musical experience. Many members find their own personal development a thrill and their self-confidence grows as they learn singing skills they may have never known before.
  5. Membership costs
    • The first week is free and then after that we ask you to pay $10 per week you us.
    •  The fees for being a part of our choir are $100 per school term (or pro rata), payable at the beginning of each school terrm.  The cost of hall hire and music is included in the fee.
    • Other costs that may be incurred include any uniforms we choose for performing and a small coaching fee if periodically we engage an external coach to visit.
  6. Use of Media and music resources
  • All sheet music, learning media and costumes (if any) remain the property of Moreton Harmony.  Music will be provided to you as a prospective member, however if you decide not to become a member of Moreton Harmony, all music will need to be returned.  This is due to the copyright license permissions on our music and the number of legal copies that the Choir can use.
